Removal of Volatile Toluene Using K2CO3-Activated Carbon Adsorbents Prepared from Buckwheat Hull

چکیده
Carbon adsorbents for use in the removal of gaseous toluene from air were prepared buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) hull. A chemically-activated adsorbent was via impregnation raw hull powder with potassium carbonate, followed by thermal decomposition. The exhibited improved adsorption capacity compared to without chemical activation. Toluene concentration decreased 220 ppm 160 during 24 h using unactivated adsorbent. Only a trace amount remained after under same conditions K2CO3-activated This improvement explained based on experimental results, specifically, iodine tests, methylene blue and microscopic observations. Chemical activation dramatically increased specific surface area created mesopores capable adsorbing toluene. study revealed that mesoporous volatile can be waste biomass (buckwheat hull) carbonate.

Background: Metoprolol (MTP) with its low biodegradability is one of the most dominant micropollutant in the effluent of wastewater treatment plants. The aim of this study was to investigate the removal of metoprolol from aqueous solutions by the activated carbon prepared from pine cones. Methods: The pine cones were activated using thermal activation method. Characteristics of the adsorbent w...
متن کاملRemoval of Pollutants with Activated Carbon Produced from K2CO3 Activation of Lignin From Reed Black Liquors
The activated carbon was prepared from fast precarbonization of reed lignin in the fluidized-bed followed by K2CO3 activation. The impregnation ratio was = 1:1 in this research. The effect of activation temperature upon the BET specific surface area and specific pore volume of the carbon was closely investigated. Increasing activation temperature led to an opening and widening of the porous str...
متن کاملRemoval of Hexavalent Chromium Ions from Aqueous Solution by Adsorption Using Activated Carbon Prepared from Cucumis Melo Peel Activated carbon
Activated carbon prepared from Cucumis Melo Peel was used as adsorbent for the removal of chromium ion from aqueous solution. Adsorption experiments were performed by varying initial metal ion concentration, temperature, and pH. Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms were used to analyze the equilibrium data obtained at different adsorption conditions. Adsorption results obtained, shows that the Cr ...

In this communication, we present the results of a study on the process optimization for the development of adsorbents from oil shale Moroccan of Timahdit layer (Y) and their application to the elimination of certain types of bacteria contained in the domestic liquid wastes. The adsorbents prepared thermally are characterized by different physico-chemical techniques and their performance adsorp...
متن کاملA Comparative Study for the Removal of Methylene Blue Dye from Aqueous Solution by Novel Activated Carbon Based Adsorbents
This study was conducted to assess the ability of the studied adsorbent, i.e. raw oak fruit hulls and the activated carbon prepared from oak fruit hull for removing the Methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. This study was conducted under various effective parameters, e.g., contact time, pH, MB concentration, adsorbent concentration. The optimum amount of each parameter was determined a...
